Stramash Outdoor Nursery

Welcome to the world of outdoor nurseries

While the concept of outdoor nurseries is new to Scotland, our neighbours in Scandinavia have been educating their wee ones in the great outdoors for half a century.

All the evidence points to the fact that young children thrive in an outdoor setting and minds and bodies develop best when they have access to stimulating outdoor environment where they can learn through play and real experiences and adventures.

Here at Stramash, we have used our years of experience in helping thousands of young people enjoy the Scottish outdoors, to offer a truly unique early years experience.

The emphasis is on inspiring life through the outdoors and letting children have the childhood that we all dreamed of when we were growing up.

Give your wee ones the gift of a wild childhood at Stramash Outdoor Nurseries.

Nestled in 40 acres of lovely old deciduous woodland, our Elgin Outdoor Nursery opened in August 2015 and is based at Spynie Hall on the western outskirts of Elgin. From the hub at Spynie, the children can access many of the fantastic outdoor locations in the area, including the incredible 40 acres of woodlands and paddocks at Aldroughty that Stramash owns, as well as the forests, beaches and coast around Elgin, Lossiemouth, Hopeman, Burghead and Roseisle.

Stramash minibuses give the children the access to these diverse and incredibly rich environments. We offer both funded and non-funded spaces for children aged 2 to 5 years as we are a partnership provider for Moray Council. The outdoor nursery is open from 8.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday, 50 weeks of the year.

Time to give your children the wild childhood you always dreamed of, and let the discover how to get the very best from their fantastic outdoor environment. Whether its exploring the woods and fields, looking at nature of just having a riot in the muddy kitchen, Stramash is the happiest place in Moray!

In the wide grassy area stretching to 50 acres, and with woods to explore and a real life castle to hear stories in, Stramash Outdoor nursery gives the children of the “UKs Outdoor Capital” the chance to learn and play, explore and communicate in a truly unique outdoor setting.

Situated in the heart of Fort William with easy access from the A82, our nursery was the former Rio Tinto Alcan Club, bestowed to us in 2015.

We offer both funded and non-funded spaces for children aged 2 to 5 years (this is a new expanded age range for 2015). The outdoor nursery is open Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.30pm, 50 weeks of the year.

Now generations of children can play outside, in the woods, or in our two cosy Yurts, looked after and encouraged by our dedicated and enthusiastic young team led by Cameron Sprague. Get ready for your wee ones to have a wild childhood at Stramash Fort William!

Oban Outdoor Nursery

Direct mobile number: 07707 058355

Perched on a hill above one of the finest views in the West Coast, nestled in a beautiful wood, sits the Stramash Oban Nursery. With two beautiful beaches only 2mins away, our children get the very best of outdoor environments.

The outdoor nursery in Oban was the first of the Stramash outdoor nurseries and with stunning views over to the islands of Lismore and Mull and a fantastic climbing tree, muddy kitchen and fire circle, children from 2 to 5 can have the childhood we all dreamed about.

The mixed woodland and open field give a variety of areas for the children to play, explore and learn. Two Mongolian yurts with wood burning stoves provide a warm shelter when the weather gets a little rough.

The nursery based at our Tree Tops site (Ganavan) is open Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.30pm, 50 weeks of the year. There are both funded and non-funded spaces available for children aged 2 to 5 years, and wrap around and after school care is available.
