Stramash Outdoor Nursery provides quality pre-school education for 3 to 5 year olds in the Oban area. We believe in using the outdoors to enable the holistic development of children, encouraging them to learn about themselves, others and the environment around them.
The outdoor environment is rich in opportunities and experiences for children as they grow and develop. Children learn to understand and care for the environment; they learn about their own abilities, developing their confidence and self-esteem; and they learn how to cooperate, work with others and build relationships.
The nursery team are well qualified and very experienced in working with children aged 3 to 5. Their professionalism, caring nature, friendliness and warmth ensure that all the children attending the nursery have an extremely positive experience. A safe, nurturing environment is created where the children feel confident to express themselves and to reach their full potential.
Children in the nursery have the opportunity to engage in unstructured, free play. Alongside this the staff help facilitate learning experiences that ensure the children become successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors, as laid out in the Curriculum for Excellence. All of the staff keep the children at the centre of all that they do and make sure that each child’s learning journey is unique and individual to them, meeting the child’s needs.
Stramash provides each child at the nursery with a waterproof jacket and trousers, meaning they can be out and about, no matter the weather. In addition, the children have access to a cosy and snug yurt that provides warmth and shelter when needed. Safety is an important aspect of all Stramash activities, including the nursery. Staff keep the safety of each child to the fore throughout every session at the nursery.
