Staff Profiles

Tony Powell

I live in Oban and work as a mountaineering instructor. As well as having a great passion for the mountains of Scotland, I enjoy instructing and coaching others the skills of being in the mountains. I have spent some time training the Stramash apprentice instructors in these skills and have really enjoyed seeing them develop.

I have climbed and guided all over the UK and now lead expeditions to the Alps, South America, Kilimanjaro, and the Indian Himalayas.

I am a volunteer with the Oban Mountain Rescue Team and have taken on the role as training officer for the team.

My qualifications include summer and winter mountaineering, rock climbing and emergency medical technician. I also enjoy a variety of other activities and am currently developing my water based qualifications.
