Stramash Adventure Clubs

Adventure Club Canoe

What?

Stramash Adventure Clubs provide an opportunity for children to explore and get to know their local outdoor environment through a variety of child-led free play and structured activity sessions.  The clubs provide adventurous, creative & exciting opportunities, where children can develop new skills, grow in confidence & self-reliance, strengthen friendships and build a connection with their local outdoor spaces.  Activities may include den-building, outdoor cooking, wild art and exploration of different outdoor environments, as well as occasional more structured sessions such as gorge walking and canoeing.  Children from each club will be actively involved in planning & choosing activities and the resources they would like to use.

Who?

Adventure Clubs are aimed at primary-aged children from P4-7.  The specific age range is dependent on the size of school and number of children applying to take part.

Where & When?

Programmes vary from club to club but usually involve after-school sessions once a week over a block during term-time.  Clubs generally meet at school and walk to a local outdoor environment or occasionally further afield with Stramash transport.

Who Runs The Clubs?

Clubs are run by Stramash-trained local volunteers with support from Stramash staff.  All adults involved have been checked by Disclosure Scotland. Stramash is licensed by the Adventure Activities Licensing Service and all activities are risk assessed.

Cost?

Stramash subsidises the running cost of the clubs. There is a small weekly charge of £2 and an annual Stramash membership fee of £10 per person.  Please contact Stramash directly if you need support with covering this payment.
